Natural textiles artist Cat Lewis will introduce you to Indigo - the plant, the dye and the process. She’ll talk about Indigo’s history -dyeing cloth with its magical blues dates back thousands of years. Many cultures developed their own form of resist dyeing to make patterns. It’s the Japanese form of resist dyeing called Shibori that you’ll experiment with. Dyeing fabric after stitching, folding and binding in particular ways to reveal beautiful patterns.
All experience levels welcome and all materials are provided. No previous dye or textile background necessary.
