Maker of Books and Member of the Guild, Shirley Jones has generously donated these artist books to the Guild, to help sustain our organisations charitable aims.
Many of you will know that Shirley Jones was/has been a Member of the Maker's Guild of Wales for over 25 years during which time many of her prints, and occasionally a copy of one of her limited edition artist books, were sold.
Shirley was brought up in the Rhondda and when she was forty was accepted as a student in the International Printmaking Course at Croydon Art College and then became one of the leading creators of artist's books. In 2019 she produced the book, "Journey - Mezzotint and the Artist's Book, A Forty Year Journey" which contains over thirty-five high quality reproductions, of varying size, of her work . This was printed by Adrian Lack, one of the outstanding fine press printers in the U.K. and bound by Ludlow Bookbinding, in an edition of 500, 100 Case Bound with slipcase signed and numbered by Shirley and 400 limp bound copies. Most of the case bound books were quickly sold to the 100 rare book libraries and private collectors who purchase Shirley's work.
