Spencer's making is about the creation of humble open vessels that take its inspiration from oriental ceramics and have minimal decoration, letting the form of the work convey a message of simplicity and beauty. The process of making is as important as the finished work itself, by taking a lowly material such as mud and creating an object that could last a thousand years.
