Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June 2026

Times: 10:30 - 16:30

An immersive workshop in Egg Tempera, where early Renaissance processes will guide practical and contemporary exploration of this uniquely luminous and purely natural medium. Across the two days, you will have the opportunity to learn how to make your own egg tempera paint using egg yolk and raw earth and stone pigments, test out possibilities and create a finished painting on a traditional chalk gesso panel.

Artist research, discussion and demos on the unique qualities of this medium and its potential for sustainability and one to one guidance will support individual pace and direction.

There will be a still life to work from and a focus on qualities of light through layering, subtle colour mixing and tactile surface mark.

There will also be a demo on ‘glair’, the egg white binder used in medieval manuscripts for its pearlescent qualities.

Would suit interested beginners and artists wanting to expand their practice and approach.

All materials provided.

Please bring your own sketchbooks, pencils and watercolour brushes.
