The Marquetry Commode cabinet made by furniture maker Timothy Gwyn John is a play between the traditional forms of ‘fine furniture’ and the timbers used in more vernacular furniture; the result is a commode influenced by an 18th century design made in ash, a timber more likely to be found in furniture within the servants quarters of houses of the period.
The cabinet is finished in an environmentally friendly tinted oil.
