Gold, as a material, has a special place in Saito’s work. Putting its value aside, it has a glorious colour and dark shade which defines shape and texture really well. It is also resilient enough to create delicate shapes. It is easy to recycle and can therefore be a very ethical material.
Saito makes organic sculptural jewellery with 18ct gold. The gold infuses her work with a sense of fragility and softness.
